An Evening Exploring Food and Wine Pairing with Chef Gerald Hirigoyen and the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant!

Gerald Hirigoyen, chef-owner of Piperade and Bocadillos in San Francisco, and expert Basque Chef will be preparing five exquisite dishes from recipes in his new book, Pintxos: Small Plates in the Basque Tradition. Ferry Godmother of Wine, Debbie Zachareas, partner in Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant will be partnering with Chef Gerald to find illuminating wine matches for this exciting, traditional cuisine. She will be offering five unique and delicious Spanish wines to expertly pair with these Old World flavors. There will be a lively, interactive discussion of the pairings, the recipes and their preparation, and an in-depth exploration of the wine and its region. In addition, each class attendee will receive an autographed copy of Gerald Hirigoyen’s highly acclaimed cookbook: Pintxos: Small Plates in the Basque Tradition. Come taste the magic of Basque country, one of the most respected cuisines on Earth, learn the secrets of preparing these delicious morsels, and even have your picture taken with the Chef. What a night! Join us in the Port Commission Hearing Room at the Ferry Plaza Building for a fun evening of taste explorations!

Dishes prepared during this class will include:

Snapper Ceviche
Deviled Eggs and Shrimp
Seared Beef with Piquillo Pepper and Shallot Jam
Salt Cod with Piperade
Chicken Thighs with Spicy Basque Ketchup
