|THE JUG SHOP PRESENT
SAN FRANCISCO BEER WEEK EVENTS
|Believe the buzz. San Francisco Beer Week is quickly approaching and it looks like this year’s will be the best yet with an incredible series of events sure to make any beer aficionado weak in the knees. The Jug Shop is not one to sit on the sidelines, so we have once again put together an incredible series of tastings to celebrate San Francisco’s love of the suds.
To kick things off, the Jug Shop is thrilled to host one of the newest breweries to enter into the bay area market, Valley Brewing, out of Stockton,CA. Although Valley’s brews may be new to the San Francisco beer scene, Steve Altimari, has been working his magic as brewmaster for 15 years and has created some truly delicious beers that are now finally available commercially. One of those beers, Old Inventory Barley Wine, was awarded a gold medal at this year’s Great American Beer Festival. This delicious, English style barley wine deftly hides its 11.5% ABV making it dangerously drinkable but thoroughly enjoyable. Join us on Friday, February 5th from 6:30p-8:30p to taste the award winner along side the rest of Valley’s killer lineup including Luna Blanca Central Valley Golden Ale, London Tavern English Mild Ale, IPA, Decadent Evil Belgian Golden Strong Ale made with pomegranate honey, Uberhoppy Imperial IPA, and Decadence Pomegranate Saison . This is a great way to celebrate the beginning of beer week for those that can’t (or don’t want to) brave the crowds for the kick off gala. Great beer and a great price: $10 per person.
Friday, February 12th will see the most requested and anticipated tasting since we started our Friday night events . Hands down, one of the most popular breweries in the shop, Vinnie Cilurzo’s Russian River Brewing Company out of Santa Rosa has provided many hop heads their fix with the wildly popular Blind Pig and Pliny the Elder IPAs . His Belgian Strong Golden, Damnation, has introduced many people to the amazing world of Belgian style ales and his barrel aged series has created many a die hard sour beer fanatic. I have always resisted doing a Russian River tasting because we were never able to get more than four of the beers in the shop at once since all of the special release beers quickly sell out. After much pleading, Vinnie dug deep into his personal stash and pulled out some true gems. BRACE YOURSELF. On Friday, February 12th from 6:30p-8:30p we will be pouring Blind Pig IPA, Damnation, Temptation, Batch 23 Damnation, Consecration Batch 001, Consecration batch 002, Consecration batch 003, Beatification batch 002 (2 years old), Salvation batch 003 (3 years old) , Salvation batch 009, as well as the new release of Supplication and Pliny the Elder on draught. We are going to limit the tasting to 75 people and at the ridiculous value price of $25 per person this tasting will sell out. Tickets will go on sale Friday morning and must be purchased in person at the store. Limit 5 tickets per person.
To conclude the week of festivities, the Jug Shop’s second annual Craft Beer In Can tasting will take place on Saturday, Feb 13th from 6:30p-8:30p. If you were unable to attend last year’s event, here is your chance to taste the great brews from 21st Amendment and Oscar Blues along with two newcomers, Big Sky Brewery and Maui Brewing Company. $15 per person will get you in and a detailed tasting list will follow next week in the reminder email. Have a great S.F. Beer Week and I look forward to seeing you all at the Jug Shop’s tastings as well as around town. It’s a great time to be a beer fan in the bay area!!! Cheers.
