Louis Roederer Champagne
Saturday, February 13th
Louis Roederer’s Cristal & Co.
Even though the tiny bubbles in Champagne were originally considered a fault, and the lightly pink wines were made from Pinot Noir only, they now have more appeal to the world’s bubble aficionados than ever.
1 out of every 12 bottles of sparkling wine originate in the appellation of Champagne, just about 100 miles northeast of Paris, where the cool climate and chalky soils give birth to some of the most elegant and refined wines of France.
Out of more than 19,000 grape growers, 5000 vinify and sell wine under their own label; the balance of them providing the fruit for the biggest Champagne houses and Négociants alike. Unlike these, the house of Louis Roederer produces 2/3 of their wine from estate grown grapes, among them the infamous "Cristal", which was produced for the first time in 1876 for the discerning palate of Czar Alexander II of Russia.
On February 13th 2010 you can live like a Czar: Join us at the Jug Shop to taste this very wine, along with other delightful Sparklers of Louis Roederer.
